Nnnn DIAARRHEA HITS 200 PERSONS IN SALYAN Kathmandu, 6 June: : Around 200 people have been suffering from diarrhea in Salyan district for a week, RSS reports from Salyan.. The diarrhea epidemic affected the people in around two dozen VDCs here. The number of diarrhea patients visiting different health organizations in the district was increasing, according to District Public Health Office, Salyan. The local health organizations that used to look after around 10 patients daily have to provide the medical services to around 25/30 people daily with the rise in mercury, said Dr. Bikash Devkota, District Health Officer. The diarrhea has mostly affected the people from Tharmare, Kotbara, Kotmaula, Kajeri, Chadekrenji, Marke, Badagaun, Majhkanda, Nigalchula, Triveni, Kavra areas. Mr Devkota said the disease has claimed none but the number of patients is increasing. People are said to have faced shortage of safe drinking water despite rising mercury. However, the District Health Office claimed that it had kept health workers and medicine in high alert in view of further health hazards in the VDCs. Even the people suffering from typhoid, jaundice and fever are increasing, it is said. ________________________________________ INSPECTORS FIND KITCHEN, STORE OF THE MALLA HOTEL UNHYGENIC Kathmandu, 6 June: Department of Commerce (DoC) inspectors Wednesday found conditions in The Malla Hotel unhygienic. The hotel’s kitchen was not hygienic and staff were not wearing their kitchen uniform, ,market inspection officer Mohan Chandra Joshi said after a check. Meat was openly stored and it was smelling, he said. The team asked for clarification within a week. nnnn
