UPDATE PM BHATTARAI SAYS HE WON’T RESIGN Kathmandu, 25 June: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Monday called opposition demand for his resignation as ‘child’s play’ and said he won’t reign until results of the now uncertain 22 November election he announced for constituent assembly (CA). Bhattarai told this to reporters at TIA after returning from Brazil. He also minimized the split in his UCPN (Maoist) party leading the government and compared the like difference between husband and wife. “There is no alternative to the government. It will continue until elections. I’m not in favour of resigning,” The premeir said. :”It is child’s play,” he described opposition calls for his resignation. The premier said constitutional and political situation will worsen with his resignation “Some friends shave left,” the government chief said referring to the split in his party/ :”They will come back,” he added comparing the split like differences between a husband and wife and children in the family. Meanwhile, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said,” The prime minister is an obstacle to a national government. The caretaker government is the biggest blocccccccckade. The premier should lave Baluwatar soonest.” Streets were blocked off the arrival of the government. Opposition still managed to greet Bhattarai with black flags at they assembled at TIA nearly two hours before Bhattarai arrived. Nearly four dozen protestors, mainly from NC, were bundled into vans and twhisked away as three protestors were injured in clashes with police. nnnn .
