ANOTHER ROUND OF BILATERAL SECCURITY TALKS IN BEIJING MONDAY Kathmandu, 21 July: The home secretary-level meeting between Nepal-China is going to start on Monday in Beijing, China, RSS reports. Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Sushil Jung Rana left for China on Saturday by leading a seven-member talks team. Joint-secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambika Luintel, Under-secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Shambhu Ghimire, Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police Arjun Jung Shahi and Additional Inspector General of Armed Police Force Durja Kumar Rai and Director at the National Investigation Department Nabraj Thapa are in the talks team. Home Ministry´s Assistant Spokesperson, Yekmani Nepal, said the security officials of two countries would discuss the measures to control criminal activities in the border areas, security systems and exchange of information to control illegal activities along the border areas, among others. He said the meeting, that is scheduled to hold at a time when the smuggling of red sandalwood was increasing along Nepal-China border, is expected to take crucial decisions to control cross border crimes. Assistant spokesperson Nepal said that though informal talks were held regarding the capacity building and professionalism of security bodies, the Ministry of Finance would take the final decisions in this regard. The meeting would also review the progress of the first meeting of such kind held two years ago. nnnn ________________________________________ NC TO PROVIDE POLITICAL OUTLET SUSHIL KOIRALA Kathmandu, 21 July: President of the Nepali Congress, Sushil Koirala, has claimed that only Nepali Congress could give political outlet to the country through the politics of unity, cooperation and consensus, RSS reports. At a programme organized at Dhapasi by his party on the occasion of the BP Memorial Day on Saturday, President Koirala urged the Maoists leaders to quit double standard. Leader Koirala further told the Maoists not to deceive people but gain confidence. Inaugurating the Mangaladevi Memorial Building on the occasion, he said party split was disappointing but the politics of violence done by Maoists led to their party split. Consensus has no alternative at all, he said, adding his party was taking together the dialogue and protest programmes. Also speaking on the occasion, party General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula said the NC would give political outlet very soon. He claimed that the Maoist party has trapped itself in crisis by declaring new election. Central Member Narahari Acharya said the election to constituent assembly was announced just for the sake of announcement. nnnn ________________________________________ UML’S OLI AGAIN CALLS FOR POLITICAL CONSENSUS Kathmandu, 21 July: Leader of CPN-UML KP Oli has said that all political parties should forge consensus to end constitutional and political vacuum in the country, RSS reports.. Inaugurating the ninth convention of CPN-UML Kathmandu Metropolis Ward no-9 on Saturday, leader Oli said there was no alternative to forge consensus among the political parties to give a way out to the present political deadlock. "Democracy cannot be established through undemocratic ways. Elections to the Constituent Assembly (CA) announced for November 22 is not possible under such circumstances. This announcement is only a drama," the UML leader added. Leader Oli also ruled out the relevance of the CA´s reinstatement. During the program, Chairman of CPN-UML Kathmandu district Committee Nirmal Kuinkel and other leaders said that present political crisis should be ended through mutual consensus among the political parties. During the program, 30 cadres of UCPN (Maoist) joined the UML. nnnn ________________________________________
