ELECTIONS FOR OUTLET SAYS GACHCHHADAR
Kathmandu, 23 July:: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar inaugurated the Metro Traffic FM 95.5 operated by the Metropolitan Traffic Police amidst a ceremony today [Monday], RSS reports.
On the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister praised the Nepal Police for its role in controlling crimes, despite having limited resources.
Claiming that home administration has seen no political interference since he assumed the post of Home Minister, Gachchhadar said the police had succeeded in arresting top political leaders involved in crime in a short span of time.
The Home Minister further said that ensuring peace and security in the country was the top priority of the incumbent government.
He said that he has not directed the police administration to release political leaders and cadres arrested on the charge of their involvement in crime and has not committed such deeds that hurt the nation and the people.
Gachchhadar said credit for bringing revolution in the country's communication sector goes to the 'Communication Policy' that was implemented 20 years ago when he had assumed the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Talking about the present political confusion in the country, he said only election could give a way out to the country.
Also speaking on the occasion, Finance Secretary Krishnahari Baskota urged the traffic police to focus its activities on security of passengers especially travelling in public vehicles.
Likewise, Home Ministry's Officiating Secretary Bhola Prasad Siwakoti expressed hope that the FM operated by the traffic police would help manage the activities of traffic police.
Similarly, Inspector General of Nepal Police Rabindra Pratap Shah said traffic police is the 'brand ambassador' of the police organization since it has direct relations with the people. He urged traffic police to behave with the people politely.
President of Federation of Nepali Journalists Shiva Gaunle expressed the confidence that the FM would help the traffic police meet its targets.
According to information shared by Traffic Police Division Chief Ganesh Rai on the occasion, so far Rs. 3.98 million has been spent to operate the FM.
The FM can be heard in Kathmandu Valley and its adjoining areas. Public awareness programmes related to traffic, and information will be disseminated from the FM from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm each day.
The DPM on the occasion also inaugurated a new building of women's barrack constructed at the cost of Rs. 23 million

BAIDHAYA GROUP FOR SINGLE IDENTITY-BASED FEDERAL NEWAH STATE
Kathmandu, 23 July: The extended meeting of the Unified Newah National Liberation Front, one of the ethnic fronts of the CPN-Maoist, has decided to mobilize the people in the Kathmandu Valley and adjoining areas in support of national independence and constitution, RSS reports.
The extended meeting that concluded on Sunday took a decision to this effect, said the Front's Convenor, Pawan Man Shrestha, in a press release he issued after the conclusion of the meeting.
The Front also decided to wage a struggle for the establishment of a single ethnic identity-based federalism and a Newah State with prerogative rights.
It called on the government not to return the land which the people had captured from the landlords during the conflict period to the landlords and to implement a scientific land reform policy. The Front demanded that the government also provide fertilizers to the farmers.
