FLOOD IN DANG WORST IN 50 YEARS, FLOODS WIDESPREAD Kathmandu, 19 July: Incessant rain overnight caused widespread damage and flooding without loss of lives. In Dang, nearly 2000 houses were inundated and 30 them colllapsed in at Deukhuri as swollen Rapti river entered the settlement. Residents perched on rooftops of their houses to save themselves. Locals said the flood was the worst since 2018 BS. Landslides damages pipes, water scarcity in Illam Ilam district headquarter is facing severe shortage of drinking water after landslides in Maimajhuwa Village Development Committee (VDC) destroyed drinking water pipelines Monday night. Landslides at two places destroyed a tank which was the source of the water supply. RSS reports from Siraha: A total of 20 houses in Lahan Municipality-4 have been inundated due to incessant rainfall in the district. The houses have been inundated as the Municipality has not been able to manage drainages. Houses of Rameshwor Yadav, Suratlal Chaudhary, Menuka Shah, Pramod Chaudhary, among others, were inundated. A local Rajdev Mahato said that this situation comes every year as the Municipality did not pay attention on the problem though locals had frequently requested the Municipality to manage drainage system. Around three dozen children of the inundated houses are not able to go to school. Likewise, Sagarmatha Orphanage was also inundated where there are 17 children. According to operator of the Orphanage, Sunil Mahato, they have been facing problem to cook food as water entered into the kitchen. Meanwhile, water level in the Koshi river reached a new high on Thursday when at 5 PM the flow was 94,375 cusec, Technicians were on high alert on both sides of the border. nnnn

Lets hope Nepal government provide compensation to victims.
