GHANTAKARNAKA BEING OBSERVED Kathmandu, 17 July: A ghost personified in pulled through the streets to the nearest river set ablaze and is thrown into the water on Ghantakarnaka Tuesday. The ‘ghost’ is pulled through the city streets to the river. The Newar community observes the traditional cultural event. Children block roads seeking donations. Nnnn HOSPITALS IN CHITWAN CLOSED DOWN FOR THIRD DAY Kathmandu, 17 July: Hospitals in Chitwan were closed down for the third consecutive day Tuesday with staff demanding security at work place. Emergency services weren’t disrupted. Hospital workers have pressed demands for re-opening of hospital and resumption of services . Services and hospitals were closed down after doctors and nurses were physically assaulted by relatives of patients who died during treatment. Nnnn THREE HOUSES ROBBED IN SIRAHA Kathmandu, 17 July: Dacoits decamped with Rs.1.5 million after robbing three houses overnight in Siraha one of the most lawless districts in the terai. Several persons were injured during the robberies. nnnn
