MAOIST CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETS THURSDAY Kathmandu, 12 July: UCPN Maoist central committee meet begin Thursday. The party’s politburo handed over Wednesday a 38-page political report presented by chairman Prachanda without major discussion. Politburo members were given copies for short study at the meeting only. The Prachnada prioritizes peace and constitution. The Maoist chairman has lent his support to the beleagured government of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai arguing support will continue until differences in the constitution are resolved, a senior party functionary said.. But the Maoist chief has refrained from lending support to handing over management and supervision of TIA to an Indian company; no support has been extended to a bilateral agreement of trade and investment during the premier’s official visit to India soon after installation last year.
