MAOIST EMERGENCY MEET DECIDES TO PROBE CHARGES OF FINANCIAL IRREGULARITIES IN CANTONMENTS Kathmandu, 19 July: The meeting under the Seventh Extended Meeting of the UCPN-Maoist called for 11:00 am this [Thursday] morning is to be held at 3:00 pm today, RSS reports. According to Coordinator of Extended Meeting Publicity Sub-Committee, Bishwo Bhakta Dulal, the meeting was put off until 3:00 pm as preparations of the meeting were underway and some processes have to be completed. The meeting was put off on Wednesday after representatives of the ex-combatants choosing voluntary retirement and the Young Communist League (YCL) chanted slogans in the meeting hall in connection with group discussions of the Extended Meeting putting forth 11-point demands including financial transactions within the cantonments be made transparent, guilty of irregularities be suspended and investigated, lifetime subsistence allowance be given to those injured during the conflict and concrete and practical plan of party reforms be presented in the Extended Meeting, among others. A standing committee meeting held this morning decided to form a commission to address the demands. It is said that plans are to make the entry of the representatives in the meeting stricter and preparations are underway to distribute separate cards today suspecting that there were irregularities on the cards distributed earlier. nnnn
