Nnnn LIVES BEING RISKED TO CROSS BRIDGES Kathmandu, 24 July: One thousand to one thousand five hundred people on an average cross the different rivers daily by using dilapidated 'tuin' or rope-bridge, risking their life, RSS reports from Rukum.. People in a couple of places here have been relying on the old and worn-out cable bridges to cross the rivers due to the lack of suspension bridges. There is no bridge over the Sani Bheri River at Purtimkanda and Garayala. Similarly, Dandagaon in Jajarkot and Ghetma VDC in Rukum district also do not have a bridge over the Thulo Bheri River. Similarly, there is no bridge over the Baluwakhola stream at Rukumkot and Kakri VDCs to the east of the district. Even the rope bridges at these places are old and the iron cables are corroded by rust. Most of these rope bridges had been installed nearly 17 years back. Many lives have been lost while crossing the rivers using the 'tuin' bridges. nnnn
