NEW POSTAL STAMPS RELEASED SUNDAY Kathmandu, 29 July: : Minister for Information and Communications, Raj Kishor Yadav, affixed the first day cancellation mark on two memorial postal stamps featuring the theme of Nepali Education Council and biodiversity amidst a function on Sunday, RSS reports. The stamp printed by the Department of Postal Service on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Nepal Education Council depicts the logo of the Council. A total of one million copies of the stamp of Rs 5 denomination have been printed. Similarly, the second stamp of Rs. 10 denomination depicts four near-extinct plants and animals. A similar million copies of the stamp has been printed. The postage stamps have been designed by Purnakala Limbu Bista and Mohan Narsingh Rana. On the occasion, Minister Yadav said the publishing of the postal stamp would help publicise Nepal's biodiversity in the international arena. He said that new postage stamps would be also be published depicting the images of national heroes and luminaries. Rastrakavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire thanked the Council for publishing postal stamps. Director General at the Department of Postal Service, Lok Prasad Acharya, Chairman of Nepal Philatelic Society, Ramesh Kumar Shrestha and others spoke about the importance of Nepal's biodiversity and postal stamps. nnnn
