NPC ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF NEW BUDGET DESPITE PROTESTS OF OPPOSITION
Kathmandu, 5 July: Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri has said the government has been preparing to bring the budget including the programmes of giving relief to the people below poverty line and those affected by price hike.
Speaking at an interaction programme here on Thursday he claimed that the government has been preparing to bring a complete budget of Rs. 439 billion.
Vice-Chairman Chhetri said the budget will include Rs. 10 billion for election and Rs. 3 billion for Maoist combatants, who have chosen rehabilitation, and said if the complete budget was not brought; it could have negative impact in development programmes.
Former Governor Himalaya Shumsher urged not to put the president in debate on budget and called for consensus, whereas economist Chiranjivi Nepal called for a full budget for easy implementation.
Economist Dr. Dilli Khanal said the government has the authority to bring a full budget and that no laws can stop it.
