PRACHANDA, MADHAV KUMAR NEPAL MEET Kathmandu, 5 July: Maoist Chairman Prachanda and UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal Thursday held discussions on the current political deadlock and other political issues. The Maoist chief proposed a package solution to end the deadlock. Nepal said there’s no alternative but for the government to resign. Nnnn FORMER KING RETURNS UPDATE Kathmandu, 5 July: Former King Gyanendra returned to the capital Thursday concluding a four-day visit of three terai districts in the western region. He offered puja at temple in Bhairahawa, where he was based, before boarding a plane for the capital. Nnnn POLICE CLASH WITH LOCALS IN LAHAN Kathmandu, 5 July: Police lobbed teargas shells to open a road near Lahan in Siraha Thursday and one dozen persons, including policemen, were injured in a clash. Angry locals closed the road protesting an overnight raid on a hotel. Police denied a charge they looted Rs. 700,000 during the clash. nnnn
