PRACHANDA NOD FOR CA REINSTATEMENT Kathmandu, 15 July: : UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that his party is positive towards the proposal to reinstate the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA), The Himalayan Times reports. Urging the top leaders of major parties to be serious towards reviving the CA, he said the CA could be reinstated on the basis of political consensus. Receiving a memorandum by a delegation of former MPs today, the Maoist Chairman urged the delegation to exert pressure on the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) also to reinstate the CA. On another note, he said the purpose of accelerating the army integration process was for supporting the constitution-drafting and accused the other parties of failing to realise the motive of the party's move. A new constitution could not be drafted within the slated time as the main opposition parties could not come to consensus on the issues of federalism, he said. Stating that discussions and talks among the political parties are taking place to find a way out to the existing political crisis in the country, leader Dahal said his party has no objections to the proposal of reinstating the CA . "The major political parties are more responsible than other parties for taking the CA to dissolution without giving the nation a new constitution", Dahal said, adding that it holds no meaning to state that all the CA members are equally responsible for pushing the country to a crisis. All the then CA members had completed their respective duties, he added. The delegation was at the UCPN (Maoist) central office, Parisdanda, Koteshwor to meet Dahal. Talking to media persons after the meeting, the UCPN Maoist leader and former CA member Kalpana Dhamala said the party Chairman positively responded their call to reinstate the CA. Similarly, former CA member from Congress Shovakar Parajuli said the Maoist Chairman was positive towards drafting the CA through the CA itself. The delegation comprised some 50 former CA members including Lal Babu Pundit from the CPN (UML).
