SOME FERTILIZERS ARRIVE FROM INDIA Kathmandu, 3 July: Altogether 2,500tons urea arrived Monday in Birgunj from a factory in Assan, India. This is the first consignment of 12,500 tons imported from India at a time of extreme shortage during the paddy transplanting season. Seven farmers’ association have decided to stage protests in from of the official residence of the prime minister protesting government failure to provide farmers fertilizers on time amid reports of widespread smuggling to meet demand. The association, one led by UML leader and former Home Minister Bamdev Gautam, chaged government in importing fertilizers from the same Indian company blacklisted by government last year for selling underweight fertilizers bags to a government agency. nnnn
