UPDATE EXERCISE RESRAINT PM TELLS PARTY WORKERS ON ISSUE OF INTEGRATION Kathmandu, 7 July: Prime Minister and Coordinator of Army Integration Special Committee Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said the integration process of the former Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army (NA) would move ahead in a dignified Manner, RSS reports. The Prime Minister made such statement with the party cadres who reached his official residence at Baluwatar this morning. The PM said that he had been holding serious parleys with all sides concerned though some complexities were surfaced in the integration process, according to PM's Personal Secretary Bishowdeep Pandey. On the occasion, PM Dr Bhattarai who is also the UCPN-Maoist Vice-Chairman urged the party cadres not to harbor any doubt on dignified integration of the PLA combatants in the NA and exercise restraint. The PM was of the opinion that some technical problems seen in the integration process would be finalized through discussions. Nnnn RAUTES DEMAND JUNGLE FOR PRESERVATION OF THEIR SPECIES Kathmandu, 7 July: The near extinct nomadic Raute tribe in mid-western Nepal has demanded that they be allowed to fell trees, saying that they will be finished up without the forests, RSS reports from Salyan. At a relief distribution programme organized by the Salyan District Development Committee (DDC), Raute Mukhiya, Main Bahadur Shahi said his people would die if not allowed to fell trees and urged CDO of Salyan, Murari Prasad Sharma to arrange for allowing them to fell trees. Forty people including Shahi demanded this saying their occupation was in crisis after the community forests did not allow them to fell trees. He told CDO Sharma that his people will starve if not allowed to cut trees. Another Raute Bir Bahadur Shahi said they have been begging after not being allowed to cut trees. "How can we live without begging, if they do to allow cutting trees, as we live by selling our skills?" They also complained that even the few utensils they made of timber were not sold. CDO Sharma assured to help them and said the government should run various programmes for protection of the tribe and every one's common initiative was needed for the same. Foodstuff and cash were distributed from the DDC's target class budget. Sharma distributed 22 quintals of rice and Rautes asked for money to buy goats and Sharma handed over Rs. 15, 000 to them. The Rautes were happy then. They had come to Kapurkot from Gadapani of nnnn PANCHTHAR CDO SUMMONED BY COURT Kathmandu, 7 July: The Appellate Court Ilam has issued order to the CDO and DSP of Panchthar district to be present within three days, RSS reports from Mangalbare in Ilam. . The court issued the order in the case of a habius corpus writ. CDO Koshhari Niraula and DSP Binod Silwal were ordered to be present within three days in connection with the petition filed against the District Administration Office and District Police Office of the district after a proprietor of a manpower company was arrested. The order was issued by the bench of Udaya Prakash Chapagain for five people including Niraula and Silwal. Manpower company proprietor Bedkumar Karki had filed the writ. CDO Niraula said Karki was taken into control for enquiry as many manpower companies were found running illegally in various places of the district. nnnn ________________________________________
