ADD TO PM’S ADDRESS
Kathmandu, 28 Aug.: Prime Minister Baburan Bhattarai spent most of the 43 minutes defending his government’s ‘achievements ‘in one year while criticizing
the opposition NC and UML by name.
:There was no alternative but to call elections because of a decision of the
supreme court, the premier said added,,” There was a dangerous trend to seek stay orders.”.
He didn’t elucidate, but was obviously referring to court orders staying decitions of government.
“There is no alternative to political understanding between parties no alternative.
“People's desire to have the constitution formulated by the Constituent Assembly alone should be fulfilled," the government chief said.
“:No one could move ahead with prejudiced notion. We could take the
nation ahead if only our actions are carried out keeping people in the centre."
“Government inherited programmes of previous government and we couldn’t
bring a complete budget, “ Bhaattarai said..
Double digit growth is needed when positive indicators were result not of government action but because of good weather previous two years.
All this was possible because of Maoists.”
He called previous governments a failure.
:The majority government should be converted into government of
national consensus.
“Regressive forces are happy. This is the time to be active and not be disheartened,’ the premier went on to say after blaming NC and UML.”
“In reality, the game had started long before not to write a constitution.” Seeing a conspiracy and despite commitment one year ago to complete peace and
draft a constitution.
‘Defending caretaker government to promulgate ordinances, the premier said,’ This is accepted procedure.”
But it’s also true caretaker governments don’t take major policy decisions like Bhattarai is attempting to do.
Bhattarai defended his government’s decision to sign BIPPA with India and
give the management of TIA to an Indian company.
“Everything is lovely. But no work has been done,” one Nepali interviewed by television said.” He has only blamed NC and UML.”
