DEUBA CALLS FOR CONSENSUS
Kathmandu, 14 Aug.: Senior leader of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that a conducive environment should be created for consensus to end the political and constitutional crises instead of trading charges against each other.
Deuba said the political deadlock would drag on due to parties' bid towards forming different alliances instead of making efforts to crack the nuts.
He said the political parties should concentrate on preparing favorable environment for making consensus.
Talking to journalists after a sapling plantation programme on the occasion of the 30th Memorial Day of late B P Koirala in the capital, Deuba said deviating to left and right from the politics of consensus was unusual.
The former prime minister said new constitution should be promulgated even by reinstating the dissolved constituent assembly (CA) as the Election Commission too has made it clear that holding elections to the constituent assembly on November 22 was next to impossible.
Deuba said that new constitution was not drafted due political parties' incapacity though a long time and huge amount of money was spent by the CA for that purpose.
"At least Rs 10 billion is needed to hold next elections. So, reinstating the CA is more relevant this time," Deuba argued.
