DETAILS OF FOREIGN MINISTER SHRESTHA REMARKS
Kathmandu, 27 Aug.: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha said on Monday that participation of Nepal, as a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), in its 16th Summit would be significant, RSS reports..
Talking briefly to media at the Tribhuvan International Airport before his departure to Tehran to participate in the NAM summit, DPM Shrestha said Nepal would put forth its views on peace, harmony, fraternity, stability and co-existence.
Nepal would also raise the issues of random proliferation of nuclear competition in the world, DPM Shrestha said, adding Nepal would stress that the nuclear competition must be continuously reduced.
In course of the Summit, Nepal would be holding meetings with world dignitaries including UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.
According to DPM Shrestha, Nepal was for the transparent and just world policy.
The Summit would be significant to strengthen the notion of the Panchasheel principle to promote global fraternity, he expressed confidence.

Indicating to the concern of some countries, DPM Shrestha said, "We are for independent decision rather than pressure and interference on this. Therefore, the comments from any side carry no meaning."
The issues to be raised in the Summit are of human rights, and anti-terrorism as well.
According to DPM Shrestha, diplomatic efforts were on to hold meetings with the world leaders.
Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai is scheduled to leave for Tehran on August 29 to participate in the Summit being held on 30-31 August.
