FORMER PREMIER NEPAL ASKS GOVT. TO STEP DOWN Kathmandu, 1 Aug.:: Senior leader of the CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has urged the government to step down on consensus in order to create an atmosphere conducive to free the country from crisis, RSS reports. At a talk programme on 'Present Political Problems and Measures of Solution' organised by the Tulashi Lal Memorial Foundation in the capital on Wednesday, leader Nepal said the transition should not be prolonged but an election to Constituent Assembly held in April/May. The CA thereafter could be changed into the parliament, he added. Similarly, Nepali Congress central member Pradip Giri, however, said the political problems could not be solved merely over the change in government till the growing consumerism and foreign donation were rightly managed. On the occasion, Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal, Chitra Bahadur KC warned that if the government did not step down on consensus, they would resort to struggle to topple it. Meanwhile, senior leader Nepal, at a programme in Bhaktapur today, said national consensus government should be formed under the leadership of the Nepali Congress in order to rid the country from the political deadlock. At the programme organised by the Raphat Media Club, he, however, said the CPN-UML would lead government if the NC showed reluctance to this regard. Leader Nepal ruled out the possibility of government leadership by leader KP Oli. He accused the Baburam Bhattarai's government of breaching the democratic norms and values. The country was still reeling under political strife because of the Maoists' strategy to capture state authority. Moreover, leader Nepal claimed that the Maoists party was split because of Baburam Bhattarai's obstinacy. nnnn
