GOVT. WILL CONTINUE FOR 20 YEARS WITHOUT CONSENSUS SAYS MAOIST CHIEF Kathmandu, 18 Aug.: Chairman of the UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the present government can go as long as 20 years if there is no agreement among political parties, RSS reports from Lahan. Addressing a press conference organised by the Revolutionary Journalist Association Siraha, in Lahan today, he claimed that if there is no agreement and no election either, the present government will itself get continuity. He said Nepali Congress leaders want to reach the country to the situation of 2017 BS (1960), but their dreams will not be fulfilled. "It is ridiculous to agitate by Nepali Congress and CPN-UML from the street demanding the resignation of the government that is already caretaker", Dahal said adding he had integrated combatants by taking a risk for giving the country a political outlet. He opined that an NC-led consensus government can be made if the five- point agreement with NC and UML is abided by. Accusing that the Constituent Assembly (CA) was dissolved because of the anti-federalism activities of NC and UML, he made it clear that his party was active to establishing the achievements of the people's movement. Dahal said the federalist alliance was not aimed at anyone but was for political outlet for the country, and agreement was made to go for CA election jointly in the days ahead for establishing progressive rights of the people. On the return of the ordinances on election by the president recommended by the government, Dahal said he could not comprehend well anything from this. nnnn
