NETRA BIKRAM CHAND SAYS COMMON GENERAL CONVENTION OF UCPN MAOIST, CPN MAOIST POSSBLE Kathmandu, 8 Aug,: CPN-Maoist Secretary Netra Bikram Chand has said that unity with his mother party the UCPN (Maoist) would be possible if the party accepts the leadership of Mohan Baidya, RSS reports from Salyan, . Speaking at a press meet at Khalanga, Salyan today, Chand said the general convention of both parties could be one if the UCPN (Maoist) accepts the leadership of Baidya and gets ready to adopt the line of new people's democracy. "We had decided to break away from the UCPN ( Maoist) and reconstitute a new party as the UCPN ( Maoist) has forgotten all the people's agendas," said Chand. Stating that consensus and collaboration among the political parties was the need of the hour, Chand said that an all-party round-table conference was a must to this end. RSS nnnn MINISTER YADAV ASKS UTL TO SETTLE ROYALTY CLAIMS Kathmandu, 8 Aug.: Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishor Yadav has said that a new constitution could not be drafted in time due to greed of political parties for state power, RSS reports. Speaking at a news conference in Biratnagar today, Minister Yadav stressed on the need of breaking the existing political deadlock in the country and institutionalizing democracy by forging a 'meaningful' consensus among the political parties. He urged the political parties to rise above the partisan interests and work for the interests of the nation. Minister Yadav who is also the Acting Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal (Republic) hinted the possibility of the implementation of the five-point agreement if fresh agreement is not possible. Responding to a query of journalists, the Communications Minister said the decision of the Department of Postal Services on hiking the transport charges for weekly papers would be scrapped since it was made mistakenly. Stating that the UTL mobile phone service is operational as per the Nepal-India agreement and the company should pay royalty to the Nepal government as determined by the Nepal Telecom Authority. The Communications Minister further said the Working Journalists Act will be implemented soon since discussions to this effect were going on among the publishers, working journalists and the government. nnnn
