NSU DEUBA FACTION CALLS GENERAL CONVENTION
Kathmandu. 4 Aug.: : The dissident faction of the Nepal Students´ Union (NSU) close to Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has announced its general convention on 31 December, 2012 to 2 January, 2013 in Birgunj on the occasion of the ´National Reconciliation Day, RSS reports´.
The central committee members of the (NSU) have also accused the NSU Chairman Ranjit Karna of attempting to impose totalitarianism in the organization.
The dissident leaders said that Karna made public the decisions terming as ´unopposed decision´ sans signatures of most of the central committee members of the NSU.
Organizing a news conference in the capital today, a total of 28 central committee members of the NSU have expressed their dissatisfaction saying that Chairman Karna was attempting to run the organization arbitrarily though top leaders of the Nepali Congress have forged a consensus regarding the functioning of the party´s sister wings.
Central member Rishikesh Jung Shah said that Karna has even breached the directive issued by Nabindra Raj Joshi, chief of the party student´s department.The dissident faction has said that Karna´s act has dishonoured the pride and rights of all cadres.
On the occasion, the leaders of dissident faction of the NSU said that they would conclude conventions in all districts, campuses and universities for holding the general convention of the NSU.
Shah said that conventions in campuses across the country, except in Kathmandu valley, would be held by mid-October and district conventions would be conducted by mid-November to elect the representatives for national convention. Similarly, conventions would be held till November in valley-based campuses.
