PM URGES ‘POSITIVE THOUGHT’ FOR NATION BUILDING Kathmandu, 17 Aug.: : Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that positive thought was needed for building a new Nepal, RSS reports.. Speaking at the second meeting of the Nepal Business Forum in the capital on Friday, the Prime Minister said the country's backwardness would never end until we quit the negative thinking. The Prime Minister who is also the chairman of the Forum said that economic prosperity was not achievable without modernizing and commercializing the agricultural sector. He also said that the government was doling out subsidy loans for agricultural entrepreneurship development. Saying that Nepal lags behind in entrepreneurship and business promotion, Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai said that social campaign should be launched to clarify the importance of entrepreneurship and commercialization. The Prime Minister also lauded the roles of the cottage industries' to boost up the country's economy and also pledged support to the entrepreneurs to further grow their businesses. The Prime Minister also urged the entrepreneurs not to worry by the political instability and added he was hopeful of brining a full budget either soon or later based on political consensus. The Prime Minister opined that bilateral investment promotion and protection agreement (BIPPA) was needed to as many as countries to bring in more investments in water resources, tourism, agriculture, energy, infrastructure development and other sectors. He stressed that Nepal take benefit from the economic prosperities done by India and China. On the occasion, the Prime Minister also said that the government is planning to sign a BIPPA with China too. During the programme, the Prime Minister launched the website of the forum. During the meeting, Minister for Industry Anil Kumar Jha said that frequent talks and coordination in between public and private sectors would contribute a lot for economic development. Also speaking on the occasion, chief secretary Lilamani Paudyal said the Forum has left to do more to suggest to the government by indentifying the points that hinder in investment promotion. Nnnn UML CHAIRMAN KHANAL SAYS FDRA WILL DISINTEGRATE NATION Kathmandu, 17Aug.: Chairman of the CPN (UML) Jhalanath Khanal has said that the recently-formed Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA) under the leadership of UCPN (Maoist) would bring about country's disintegration. The UCPN (Maoist) formed the alliance to accomplish its strategy of running an authoritarian regime and this alliance is the result of anti-national and secessionist forces, Khanal said addressing a party meeting at Bidur in Nuwakot on Friday. Khanal further said that the present coalition cannot open up the door to consensus as it was an alliance of extreme leftists and extreme rightist forces. He also said that the coalition parties formed the alliance aiming to sideline other parties, pushing the country into further confrontation. Similarly, UML politburo member Mahendra Bahadur Pandey said that the Maoists were effortful to capture the state power in the name of country people. Meanwhile, speaking at a separate programme in Butwal on Friday, UML secretary Bishnu Paudel said the present political and constitutional crises were the result of Maoists' stubbornness. Paudel said the UCPN (Maoist) was dreaming to impose totalitarianism but people would foil this. He said the country was facing the result of going for constituent assembly elections without disarming the Maoist party. nnnn
