KATHMANDU, Aug 4: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has declared the names of 29 players selected to train for the Nehru Cup International Football Tournament to be held in New Delhi from August 22 to September 2.
According to the press release issued by ANFA on Saturday, the training and preparation for the tournament will begin from Sunday.
Krishna Thapa is the coach of the team while Hari Khadka and Upendraman Singh are the assistant coaches. According to coach Thapa, the final list with 20 players will likely be declared on Wednesday.
According to Thapa, the tournament will help assess the standard of Nepali football. Along with host India, Maldives, Syria and Cameroon are competing in the tournament to be held in the round robin basis.
Meanwhile, defender Rabin Shrestha and goalkeeper Bikash Malla are likely to miss the tournament as Shrestha underwent an ear surgery about a week earlier. Doctors have suggested him to take rest for about a month. Similarly, Malla, who had a knee injury, is undergoing treatment.
