RPP-NEPAL DEMANDS ELECTION GOVT. Kathmandu, 25 Aug.: Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-Nepal), Kamal Thapa, has called for constituting an independent and impartial election government for ending the current political deadlock, RSS reports. Speaking in a programme organised by Lamjung-Kathmandu Liaison Society here on Saturday, he said there is the risk that the transition would further drag on in the country going the fresh bouts of mistrust seen among the major political parties. The RPP-Nepal chairman stressed that an election government comprising independent persons should be constituted under the chairmanship of former Chief Justice or former judges to prevent such a situation and that was the best alternative. Stating that the aspirations of the Nepali people to write a constitution from the Constituent Assembly were belied due to the dissolution of the CA resulting from the lust for power inherent among the then major political parties, Thapa said the people will assess this situation in the next general election. He stressed that democracy could be strengthened and the people's rights guaranteed only if the affairs of the state were run on the basis of the mandate of the people expressed through a free and fair election based on adult franchise. The RPP-Nepal chairman also said that nationality was enfeebled in the present context of growing foreign interference in domestic affairs, calling on the people to be conscious of this state of affairs in the country. He exhorted all the patriotic people to be united in the current situation of the country in which the people are in distress due to the incompetency of the government in reining in hike in market prices, controlling corruption and maintaining peace and security. nnnn
