UML PARTY CHIEF WHIP SAYS NO ACTION AGAINST DISSIDENT INDIGENOUS LEADERS Kathmandu, 2 Aug.: Chairperson of CPN-UML Disciplinary Commission Amrit Kumar Bohora has said the Commission would not take action against the dissident indigenous leaders of the party in an autocratic manner though they were sought clarification. The Commission had sought clarification from party Vice-chairperson Ashok Rai including central members two weeks ago for forming a different opinion group by publicly challenging the party's decision of seven provinces along with common identity. Talking to RSS, leader Bohora said some of the leaders have already furnished their clarifications while some have yet to receive letter seeking justification for being outside the Valley. 'We have sent them letters with the intention of keeping the party disciplined and within the ambit of policy. Seeking clarification should not be considered an autocratic style and we would not take action to that way', Bohora clarified. The disgruntled leaders had criticized the Commission's preparation of action against them as an autocratic move of the party. Nnnn JANAKPURDHAM INUNDATED Kathmandu, 2 Aug.: Janakpurdham has been waterlogged following incessant rains. The main roads in the town have turned into pools of water and many houses have been inundated, RSS reports from Jakpurdham. The situation has been much aggravated due to the lack of proper drainage in the town. Many government office premises which also lack proper drainage have also been waterlogged due to the collection of rainwater. Nnnn TTTANIC MUSIC DIRECTOR PAUL PEABODY RAISING FUNDS FOR EYE HOSPITAL Kathmandu, 2 Aug.: Paul Peabody, the music director of the Oscar-winning English movie ´The Titanic´, is in town on a fund-raising mission, RSS reports from Dhangadi.. The musician of The Titanic arrived here on Wednesday to participate in a cultural program to be organized for collecting funds for construction of a guest house at the Geta Eye Hospital in Kailali. Peabody´s organization, Help Me See and Om Group are jointly organizing a cultural programme in Dhangadhi this evening. Peabody will join blind artists from the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh in the performance. Various American organizations have been supporting the Geta Eye Hospital. Nnnn CPM MAOIST STAKES CLAIM TO FORM GOVT.. Kathmandu, 2 Aug.: Spokesperson of the CPN (Maoist) Pampha Bhusal refuted the possibility of forming a government under the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) leadership on the grounds of the five-point agreement and other past agreements, RSS reports from Bhaktapur.. Speaking at a programme organised by Rafat Club here today, she said the new government under the leadership of the political parties that proved a failure in the past is not possible. Spokesperson of the CPN-Maoist, Bhusal stressed on the need of a roundtable dialogue to settle the present political transition saying a consensus government should be formed of nationalists, leftists and republican forces. "The CPN-Maoist has already led the proletariat and that is why the Maoist itself should lead the unity government formed through roundtable talks", said Spokesperson Bhusal. She criticised Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai for continuing in power by running the nation through ordinances with India's support, and claimed that the Constitution and the nation as a whole were pushed towards uncertainty due to Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai. The incumbent government dissolved the Constituent Assembly that was so close to concluding the constitution writing process and raising hopes of fresh Constituent Assembly elections which are impossible. nnnn
