10 PARTIES URGE WORKERS TO BOYCOTT FOR KING’S VISIT

Kathmandu, 20 Sept.: Republican and democratic parties active in Parbat district have protested the Gandaki and Dhaulagiri Zonal tour of former King Gyanendra Shah to be started from today [Thursday], RSS reports from Pokhara.
Ten political parties of Parbat district organized a corner assembly at Shibalaya Chowk of Kusmabazaar this morning protesting former king's tour.
Leaders speaking at the corner assembly called on former King Shah to stop his tour and also warned of obstructing his tour if he started his tour forcibly.
Speaking at the corner assembly, various leaders including District In-charge of the UCPN-Maoist, Netra Adhikary, District Chairman of the CPN-UML, Bikas Lamsal and State Committee member of the CPN-Maoist, Hari Paudel, blamed that former king has tried to gather crowd in the name of religion by taking benefit of the transition period conspiring to grab achievements made from the people's movement.
A programme has been scheduled by former King Shah to visit religious and tourism sites of Parbat district including Kusmabazaar-based Gupteshwor Cave and Gayatri Temple on Saturday.
The parties have called on their cadres not to participate in the former king's tour and boycott the programmes actively.
The parties also drew the attention of the Chief District Officer and government offices not to allow misuse of the government property during Shah's visit.
Meanwhile, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)-Nepal, Parbat, called on its cadres to be active in programmes of Shah's tour.
