AMID DIFFERENCES IN UML, VICE-CHAIRMAN GAUTAM RULES OUT
SINGLE IDENTITY FEDERAL UNITS
Kathmandu, 13 Sept.:: CPN-UML leader Bamdev Gautam has said that federal provinces based on single ethnicity would not be possible under any circumstances, while federalizing the country, RSS reports from Nepalgunj.
Addressing a news conference organized by Press Chautari Nepal Banke District Chapter here today, he said, "Federalizing a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and multi-cultural country like ours based on a single ethnic identity would be like digging own grave."
The UML leader called for the Prime Minister to resign to enable the three major parties to reach an agreement on the contentious issues.
He also said that his party, the CPN-UML, has kept both options – reviving the Constituent Assembly or holding general elections—open.
To a query, Gautam said possibilities of the UCPN (Maoist) agreeing to the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML on their stance on the basis of formation of federal states were high.

At an interaction on ´the country´s crises, and women´s role´ organized on Thursday in Ghorahi by the All Nepal Women´s Association (ANWA)-Revolutionary Ninth District Convention Organizing Committee, Dang, he said all the communities should be united and there is no alternative for women who constitute half the country´s population, other than to resorting to agitation.
He also said federalism with identity and constitution with federalism was the best solution for the rights of the people.
UCPN (Maoist) Convention Organizing Committee Member Sushma Sharma Ghimire said the capitalist society had taken women as toys in the Teej festival which was a symbol of making slave of women by the feudalist regime.
