DETAILS OF PM’S OVERNIGHT STAY IN JUMLA UPDATE Kathmandu, 16 Sept.: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai interacted with the people of Ranka village in Tatopani VDC-2 here and listened to the people regarding their problems. Ranka village is some 17 kilometres to the west of the district headquarters, Khalanga, RSS reports from Jumla . On the occasion, Prime Minister Bhattarai said that the government would fulfill the demands of the people of Karnali relating to education, health, water supply, transport, electricity and other services as soon as possible. The prime minister said that he has come on a visit of this area and has stayed overnight at the house of Man Singh Nepali, an ordinary member of the local dalit community, to listen to and understand the aspirations of the ordinary people of the area. Addressing the civil servants in the district headquarters on Saturday, Prime Minister Bhattarai said programmes like 'Hello Government', 'Prime Minister with the People' and 'Prime Minister at People's Doorsteps' have been implemented to banish the tendency of the people feeling alienated from the state and vice-versa. He also stated that the government could not implement programmes with new vision due to the transition and that his main goal was to extend the outreach of the state services to the nooks and corners of the country, especially to the remote Karnali Zone, by reforming its working style at Singh Durbar (the central government secretariat). The prime minister reiterated that the government would pay attention towards the perks and facilities of the civil servants working in remote areas. He added that the government has given priority to black topping the Karnali Highway. At the programme, Chief District Officer Shaligram Sharma presented a brief account of the activities carried out the district so far in the health, education, drinking water, agriculture and transport sectors. nnnn
