FIRST JOINT NEPAL US MILITARY OPERATION IN POKHARA Kathmandu, 9 Sept.: Nepal Army (NA) and US Military personnel Monday will conduct the first six-day ´Operation Pacific Angel´ described as a joint military humanitarian operation in Pokhara The operation will include medical, optometry, and construction program as well as expert exchanges in Dhikur Pokhari VDC in Kaski district. “Approximately 150 Nepali and US Military personnel and Project HOPE doctors, along with local non-governmental organizations and military doctors from Australia and Mongolia, will support this operation to help improve the health and quality of life for Nepali communities and enhance regional cooperation, stability and security,” said a the US embassy said. Since 2007, the US Military, together with host nation´s military personnel throughout the Asia-Pacific region, have improved the lives of tens of thousands of people through Operation Pacific Angel. “This is the first time Operation Pacific Angel has been held in Nepal. This year, Pacific Angel has also been conducted in Laos, Vietnam, and the Philippines,” the statement further said. The operation is being conducted the same day new US Ambassador Peter Bodde presents his credentials to President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and when a government led by Maoists is in Singha Durbar.
