FOREIGN MINISTER SHRESTHA ADDRESSES GENERAL ASSEMBLY SESSION FRIDAY Kathmandu, 24 Sept.: Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kazi Shrestha addresses the annual UN general assembly session Friday. Shrestha, who is also foreign minister, arrived in New York Sunday to attend and address the annual assembly. Other bilateral and multilateral meetings are scheduled on the sidelines of the assembly session. nnnn LITTERATEUR JHAMAK GHIMERE HONOURED IN TAIWAN WHERE SHE UNDERWENT MEDICAL EXAMINATION Kathmandu, 24 Sept.: The translated Chinese version of a book, Jivan Kanda Ki Phool by litterateur Jhamak Ghimire was released in Taipei last week, RSS reports. The translated book was published by Chau Qan Cultural and Educational Foundation of Taipei. Similarly, the Nepalis living in Taipei and affiliated to the International Nepal Literary Society, Pharmosa Branch, Taipei honoured litterateur Ghimire with the 'Pharmosa Nepali Literature Award' in recognition to her contribution to the Nepali literature. The prize carries the purse of US dollar 600. Currently in Taipei at the invitation of the Chau Qan Cultural and Educational Foundation, litterateur Ghimire also had her health checked at Lansing Hospital, said Society Chairman Kapil Adhikari via email. Moreover, he said she was honoured with Global Love of Life Award 2012 at a programme organized at a local Ming San Senior School. Ghimire is on a 10-day visit to Taiwan with her parents. nnnn
