FRONT OF RULING PARTIES MEET Kathmandu, 22 Sept.: A meeting of a front of nearly two dozen parties formed by ruling UCPN Maoist and five-party Madeshibadi Morcha is underway Saturday to discuss strategy and ‘progressive programmes; as the Big Four and Madeshibadi Morcha decided to go for snap polls to end a prolonged deadlock. The meeting is being held one day ahead of the third meeting of the Big Three and the Madeshi morcha Sunday. The constituents in government and two opposition parties NC and UML are lockedin a dispute over government leadership. Maoists insist the incumbent Baburm Bhattarai government will lead a national consensus government to conduct elections. NC and UML have decided to boycott polls conducted by the Bhattarai government. NC CPN MAOIST MEET Kathmandu, 22 Sept.: A summit of NC and CPN Maoist was held Saturday to discuss and review current political situation after calls for snap polls for constituent assembly (CA) The Maoist faction led by Mohan Baidhaya said an election called by a ’syndicate of four parties’, including NC is unacceptable and cant be called a national call. The parties discussed pressures to be put on the Bhattarai government and future working relationship. He is scheduled to inaugurate Sunday a meeting of Nepal-Bharat ParbashiSangh. Nnnn GACHEDHAR GOING TO MALDIVES Kathmandu, 22 Sept.:Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bijaya Kumar Gahedhar leaves for Maldives Sunday. He’s to attend a meeting of SAARC home secretaries there. Nnnn DPM GACHEDHAR BOYCOTTS SECURITY MEET BECAUSE OF DISSATISFACTION WITH PM OVER IGP APPOINTMENT Kathmandu, 22 Sept.: Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar, who is also home minister, didn’t attend a one-day meeting in Dhulikhel, Kavre, of senior home ministry and police officers to review security in 10 districts of he central region Friday, Gorkhapatra writes. It’s learnt he didn’t attend because of the unilateral appointment of an IGP by the prime minister, Gachedhar, instead, attended a meeting of the party in the town. nnnn
