GOVT. ANNOUNCES SUBSIDIZED PRICES FOR POL PRODUCTS FOR STUDENTS USING TO PLACATE THEM Kathmandu, 11 Sept.: In an attempt to placate students, government on Tuesday offered subsidized prices to them on POL products. Opposition students were on anti-government protests pressing for the resignation of government and rollback of hiked prices of POL products. Lower prices will be enforced from 16 September Students of higher secondary schools, government university and public campuses. are beneficiaries. Students will get NRS 250 and NRs 10 discount on LPG cooking gas and kerosene respectively. Poor families and farmers are also beneficiaries. Government asked students union to withdraw their a strike called on Wednesday. Opposition students Tuesday escalated protests and announced a six –hour strike from six in the morning to 12 noon. Students ignored the government request. Nnnn DEUBA SAYS ELECTION ONLYWITH CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT Kathmandu, 11 Sept.: Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has ruled out the possibility of fresh election without the amendment to the constitution, RSS reports from Banepa. Opening a regional training organised by the party sister wing Nepal Tarun Dal at Banepa on Tuesday, leader Deuba said history of world including of Iraq shows that elections held without meeting constitutional criteria are proved unconstitutional.
