KUKELHANI REVERVOIR
Kathmandu, 19 Sept.: With record September rainfall the level of water in
the Kulekhani reservoir has increased.
“This is good news. But I don’t think the reservoir will be full since it is
V-shaped from the bottom up,” said former Managing Director Shanta Bahadur Pun.
The reservoir holds monsoon water to run two hydro power plants during the four-month dry season from mid-November when there is acute power shortage.
“The water level has risen to 1,523.5 meters. The height of the reservoir is 1,530meters,” said Kulekhani General Manager Chiranjivi Sharma.
The monsoon normally ends 23 September but withdrawal from Nepalis likelytobe delayed.
