MAOIST, NC DIALOGUE
Kathmandu, 12 Sept. Leaders of UCPN Maoist and main opposition NC
held discussions Wednesday amid continuing deadlock and mutual
recrimination.
They agreed to go for elections if there no agreement by end of Bhadra [15 September].
The two biggest parties in the dissolved parliament agreed to
convene a meeting of the Big Three Thursday.
NC General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula called for a reinstatement
of constituent assembly/parliament for a short period.
Maoist Chief Pachanda held discussions with Sher Bahadur Deuba, Ram Chandra Paudel, Ram Sharan Mahat and Krishna Shitaula.
President Sushil Koirala isn’t in town.
Deuba advocates short reinstatement to promulgate a constitution—a
position that hasn’t been formally been adopted b the party
Koirala supporters is pushing for fresh elections.
NC held discussions with Maoists as the opposition are on
anti-government protests demanding immediate unconditional resignation of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai.
Maoists are demanding a constitution with their agenda before Bjattarai’s resignation.
