MAOIST SPOKESMAN DENIES CORRUPTION CHARGES AGAINST PRACHANDA, PM BHATTARAI AND KRISHNA BAHADUR MAHARA
Kathmandu, 22 Sept.: Spokesperson of the UCPN (Maoist) Agni Sapkota has refuted the charges that the corruption has badly slurred his party, RSS reports.
During a regular meeting with media persons at the party's central office Koteshwor on Saturday, Spokesperson Sapkota claimed that some parties were labeling the charges of corruption against the Maoists just for political propaganda.
Leadership of the new government could not be given to the Nepali Congress (NC) as per the five-point agreement if a consensus was built on reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly (CA), he said, adding that, but now the situation was different and the NC leadership could not be accepted.
He, however, said the Congress leadership could be considered if a basis of trust was created.
Similarly, Spokesperson said the UCPN-Maoist will lead the national consensus government and efforts were underway to give an outlet to the country from the existing crisis.
The party is yet to sit for internal talks to determine future candidate to lead the consensus government. It is yet to be discussed whether to present the party chairman as a future prime minister or continue the incumbent government, he added. The state power could be unilateral if the Congress would get an opportunity to lead the national consensus government since the President is also from the Congress, claimed Sapkota.
He informed the meeting that the Federal Democratic Republican Alliance was planning to launch a nationwide campaigning to make the people aware of the present political situation near future.
Meanwhile, leader Sapkota has urged media to disseminate news being based on facts and in a free and fair manner.
Opening the first district convention of Revolutionary Journalist Association, Lalitpur today, he said no media and media persons in Nepal are free from biasness. On different note, he urged the political parties to adopt maximum flexibility to find a way out to the present crisis in the country.
