MONSOON STARTS WITHDRAWING FROM SOUTH ASIA Kathmandu, 21 Sept. Monsoon has started withdrawing over South Asia, The annual rain normally withdraws from Nepal 23 September when record rainfall was reported. Normal rainfall is 199mm in September but more than 200 mm rain has been recorded in the Valley. Below normal rainfall was recorded June, July, August. The monsoon began with a whimper this year and is ending with a bang Good rain is essential to push the national economy. Maize and paddy production is expected to fall with a failed monsoon this year. Nnnn RCT PLAYS BANSBARI FC IN Ncell CUP FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Kathmandu, 20 Sept :McDowell´s Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) plays Mahindra Bansbari FC in the Ncell Cup Football Championship Friday in the first group match. Nnnn GOVT SERIOUS ON ROPENING SICK PUBLIC ENTERPRISES Kathmandu, 21 Sept.: The government has said its attention was drawn seriously towards closure of some public corporations, RSS reports.. The Finance Ministry has said the product-oriented corporations need to come into operation to contribute to nation´s economy. Issuing a press release on Thursday, the Ministry lauded the concerns the political representatives, farmers and stakeholders showed for the resumption of Birgunj Sugar Mill which is closed for long. However, the Ministry said the government was serious to reopen the Mill, adopting necessary measures. A meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister in the presence of PM Dr Bhattarai on Thursday stressed that production-oriented public corporations must remain operational. According to the press release, the PM has directed the concerned bodies to concentrate how the closed factory could be brought into operation with the use of means and resources. nnnn ________________________________________
