NEMWANG SAYS HIS ATTEMPT TO SAVE CA FAILED BECAUSE OF OTHER PARTIES Kathmandu, 25 Sept.: Former Chairman of the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) Subas Nembang has claimed that his attempts to save the CA even by amending the constitution turned futile due to other political parties, RSS reports from Ilam.. Inaugurating the International Chess Competition in Ilam on Tuesday, the former speaker said that the country would not get an outlet before the next elections to the CA. He added the interim constitution should be amended by forging consensus among the political parties at early as possible. Nembang expressed serious concerns to the political uncertainty and constitutional vacuum which is likely to be surfaced after the completion of the tenure of commissioners at the constitutional bodies and Chief Justice by mid-December. Stating that the country has moved toward difficulties day after day due to lack of people´s representatives, he stressed on the need of taking initiatives to form a national consensus government at the earliest. The former CA Chairman suggested that the government at present should move ahead to forge consensus rather than bringing ordinances. nnnn ________________________________________ KAMAL THAPA CALLS FOR ELECTIONS BY MAY 2013 Kathmandu, 25 Sept. Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa has said that the role of political parties would cease if fresh elections were not conducted by May 2013, RSS reports. Speaking at an interaction programme at Birtamod in Jhapa today, Thapa warned that the country's politics would go out from the grip of political parties and serious struggles would be waged to restore democracy if elections were not conducted in time. Thapa claimed that people are in favour of the Hindu state and democracy with monarchy. Saying that fresh election was the only option to end the present political crisis, Thapa said election government led by an independent figure should be formed. Thapa also reasoned that present government cannot hold free and fair elections and added that formation of the new government under the Nepali Congress leadership was irrelevant. nnnn
