PM’S HELICOPTER FLIGHT DIVERTED TO SURKHET Kathmandu, 16 Sept. An army helicopter carrying Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Sunday diverted and made an unscheduled landing at Surkhet airport after encountering heavy rain. He was en route to Kalikot from Jumla where he spent Saturday night at a village interacting with people as part of a monthly programme started four months ago. The premier was accompanied by senior government officials. The government chief’s chopper made an emergency landing on the banks of Rapti river in Banke Saturday while flying to Jumla from the capital. Nnnn WOMEN RRESTED WITH NARCOTIC DRUGS Kathmandu, 16 Sept.: Increasing cases involving women in drugs smuggling have been coming to light in recent times. In such a case, woman was caught smuggling narcotic drugs via the Bariyarpatti transit point on the Nepal-India border here on Sunday, RSS reports Golbazzar, Siraha. A team of the Armed Police Force (APF) base camp at Bariyarpatti arrested Chandreshwari Devi Yadav for smuggling narcotic substances. Police confiscated 40 units of Corex, a narcotic drug, from her bag during security check. Police say trend of using women as drug peddlers is on the rise after they tightened security checks along the boarder. Following this incident, police here plan to intensify security checks and frisk women at border transit points. There is a growing problem of drug abuse by local youths in Siraha district as drugs are easily available in the local market. Nnnn
