RULING, OPPOSITION PARTIES
CALL MYAGDHI BANDH TO THWART DISTRICT VISIT OF FORMER KING
Kathmandu, 21 Sept.: Ruling and opposition parties that have failed to
lead the nation and resolve problems created by them have called a
Myagdhi bandh Friday to thwart visits of former King Gyanendra to offer and puja temples in the district.
The parties charge the then king of attempting to fish in ‘troubled waters’
polluted by the parties themselves.
Others can’t be charged for a mess that the country is now in.
The parties are implicitly saying no anti-republican activity will be tolerated.
The last Shah hasn’t gone on such a drive.
And it’s not obligatory for people to accept such a system in a democratic
dispensation anyway especially when it was declared by a self-appointed parliament,
A republican system hasn’t been endorsed by the sovereign people, as NC leader Chakra Prasad Bastola said..
The NC went on an anti-panchayat drive for more than three decadedand never accepted a partyless dispensation.
UML hunted more than one dozen heads in Jhapa diring a Naxalite
movement Maoists went into the Nepal’s forests and India’s urban jungle
to usher in their own form of communism.
More than 18,000 persons were killed on both sides of the conflict during
the 10-year Maoist people’s war to launch a people’s republic—the
bloodiest anti-government in Nepal’s history.
The former king’s car was stopped spontaneously by children and elderly as he drove to
Pokhara from the capital Wednesday demonstrating he still has support of people.
