SPECIAL PROGRAMME TO CONTAIN VIRAL FEVER Kathmandu, 18 Sept.: Sensing that viral fever might spread throughout the country after the recent rains, the government is conducting a special campaign to contain this disease, RSS reports.. According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division of the Ministry of Health, an awareness drive and medical treatment would be carried out simultaneously under this campaign. Dr. G.D. Thakur, Director at the Division, said the special campaign is being launched as the viral fever might spread rapidly due to the irregular rain and other reasons. He said public awareness programmes are being conducted at different places, medicines distributed, the required health workers mobilized and investigation and research conducted. The local health posts have been directed to immediately report to the centre if they are not able to contain the disease at the local level. Medical teams with specialists have been dispatched to Chitwan, Makawanpur, Kanchanpur, Khotang and Sindhuli districts where the impact of viral fever has become severe, for providing treatment services and carrying out investigation, Thakur said. The Division stated that viral fever might be seen until the first week of October. RSS nnnn SKY CLEARS AFTER TWO DAYS OF RECORD RAINFALL Kathmandu, 18 Sept. :The sky cleared Tuesday afternoon briefly after two days of record rainfall. The sun appeared briefly around 11 in the morning. The Vally has received more than 400mm of rainfall in September when normal rainfall in the month is 199.8mm. nnnn
