TOP AIGs DUE TO RETIRE WITH SC REFUSAL TO ISSUE ORDER AGAINST COMPULSORY RETIREMENT RULE AFTER 30-YEAR SERVICE Kathmandu, 10 Sept.: Supreme Court (SC) special bench Monday refused to pass an interim order sought by some AIGs due to retire this week seeking review of a provision for retirement after completion of 30-year service. The applicants seeking a stay order said the compulsory retirement rule was unjust. The special bench of Justices Damodar Prasad Sharma, Tarka Raj Bhatta and Gyanendra Bahadur Karki referred the issue to a grand bench comprising of five judges for further interpretation AIGs Madan Bahadur Khadka, Kalyan Timalsina, Arjun Jung Shahi, Kiran Gautam and Prakash Kunwar, who had filed the petition, will retire along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rabindra Pratap Shah on Friday. The petition was filed 31 August. The Prime Minister´s Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice and the police headquarters were defendants. nnnn
