UML CHIEF SAYS HIS PARTY OPEN TO ISSUE OF GOVT. LEADERSHIP
Kathmandu, 26 Sept.:: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has said that his party was open to the issue of leadership of the consensus government. RSS reports.
Talking to media persons upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport from India, he said, "Earlier we had wished that the NC assume the leadership but it has not been able to play an effective role towards that end."
Stating that a national consensus government was the first prerequisite for resolving the present crisis, he made it clear that the Government could be formed under the leadership of any party.
The UCPN-Maoist party however is not ready for formation of a national consensus government, he said, and added that there was no alternative to an agitation if the Maoist party did not choose to resolve the deadlock through dialogue.
The opposition alliance shall move ahead with programmes of protest as per the need.
Stating that the decision to go for elections was right, he said the UML welcomes the decision and would take part in the elections.

INDIANS ARRESTED FOR BRINGING IN HUGE CACHE OF
INDIAN CURRENCY NOTES
Kathmandu, 26 Sept.: The Janakpur police on Tuesday arrested Indian nationals on the charge of smuggling of Indian currency notes.The arrested are Shekhar Kumar Rungata and Ashok Kumar Yadav of Jayanagar, RSS reports from Janakpurdham..
Police said that it had confiscated INR 24,000 and Rs. 2.23 million from them. The two were arrested from the Madar point in Siraha. They admitted before the police that they used to bring in Indian currency notes for one gold dealer Shankar Sah of Janakpur.
