BODY OF MISSING FRENCH CLIMBER RECOVERED Kathmandu, 4 Oct.: The body of French citizen Remi George Lesluse, ,48,was found on Tuesday at the third camp of the 8163 meters high Manaslu and was airlifted to the capital Wednesday. He was leader of the French component of the team. The body has been handed over to the French embassy, the team; agent said. He went missing on the peak in Gorkha with another French and Canadian climber after a massive avalanche 23 September. The two climbers are still missing in the first accident of the autumn climbing season in Nepal Himalaya. Nine climbers died and twp are still missing on the peak. TWO ROBBED OF RS.1.1 MILLION AT GUNPOINT Kathmandu, 4 Oct.: Two employees of a business firm, who were returning back after collecting cash from different shops, were looted by unidentified persons, RSS reports from Birtamode. Bhupen Dhungel and Biswajit Rajbansi, working for the Birtamode-based Prem Traders and Sharada Concern, were looted at around 5:10 pm on Wednesday at Sheetal Chowk near the Biring river bridge of Ghailadubba-9. Three unidentifed persons stopped the two and made off with Rs. 1.1 million in cash at gun point, according to Proprietor of Sharada Concern, Sanjaya Goyal. The staff had collected payments from Urlabari, Damak and Surunga. Meanwhile, police have begun investigation into the incident. However, no one has been arrested as of this morning, police said. Nnnn GACHHADAR THREATNS TO SEVER TIES KAILALI, KANCHANPUR WITH REST OF COUNTRY ANGERING RESIDENTS IN FAR-WEST kathmandu, 5 Oct.: Tension ran high in Kailali today as supporters of the intact far-west campaign took to the streets to protest remarks by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar who yesterday ‘promised to sever Kailali and Kanchanpur from the far-west region’, The Himalayan Times reports from Dhangadi. Accusing DPM Gachhadar of inciting the audience to chant slogans like Jaya Tharuhat, intact far-west campaign supporters today held demonstrations at different places in Kailali. They also enforced vehicular strikes at Boradandi, Attariya, Khutiya and Lamki. Police personnel in huge numbers were deployed to escort Gachhadar, who was on his way to mid-west, through an alternative Dhangadhi-Khutiya route. Angry demonstrators, including cadres of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, showed the minister black flags at Lamki and Chisapani. Police had detained four persons during the protest but released them later. The demonstrators also held a corner meeting at the Lamki Bazaar and demanded Gachhadar’s resignation. Tension ran high in Dhangadhi also after security forces stopped intact far-west campaign supporters from marching towards the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic’s party office. The demonstrators shut the Attariya Bazaar from 11:00 am alleging that police had charged batons on them. The protest ended after three hours following talks among the police, the local administration and the intact far-west campaigners. When asked about today’s demonstration, NC Kailali town secretary Keshav Mishra said their protest was aimed at the minister’s remarks which had only rekindled the old tension. Demanding that the minister apologise, the demonstrators have decided to stop all government vehicles from plying and close the government offices tomorrow [Thusday].. nnnn
