BREAKING NEWS PRESIDENT WARNS HE MAY ACT TO GIVE AN OUTLET IN THREE DAYS
Kathmandu, 13 Oct.: President Dr Ram Baran sternly but politely warned Saturday he may intervene of parties don’t find a consensus to end a prolonged deadlock by a Tuesday deadline.
He issued the warning in the capital while addressing a meeting of business leaders.
:”As a protector of the constitution, I won’t limit myself to going through the books.. There is a head of state who has to abide by the constitution and protest the constitution,”he reminded his audience.
The president’s comment is the first indication major political development is in the offing.after it is almost certain political parties won’t meet Tuesday’s deadline
to find an outlet to a political and constitutional crisis.
“The head of state has responsibilities .to the people,” the president said and asked political parties even at the last moment to find a ‘package solution’ with the nation, party and individual’s interests uppermost in that order.
“If parties fail to reach to an understanding over the contentious issues at the earliest, I shall intervene,” Dr. Yadav said without mincing words.
He again called for a consensus to resolve issues in a ‘package deal’.
Yadav is the first president and a former NC activist but Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, a Maoist, has charged the ceremonial head of state of for implicitly adopting a main opposition agenda.
The president has repeatedly asked parties to end the deadlock and asked them to reove roadblocks for him to work.
