MORE BODIES RECOVERED FROM ILAM LANDSLIDE SITE Kathamandu, 1 Oct. Ilam: Of those people gone missing in a massive landslide that occurred in between Kutidanda of Kolbung and Harkate in Ilam district along the Mechi Highway, bodies of six people have been found, RSS reports from Ilam.. Fourteen people went missing in the landslide that took place at 8:00 pm on Sunday.Status of eight people-seven Indian nationals and a Nepali-is still unknown.Of the dead, one is identified as Sarar Pradhan of Fikkal-6. Most of the dead bodies are in a shattered condition. Dawa Sherpa, 40, Chhoten Bhutiya, 34, Arati Sherpa, 32, Chhiring Kesang Sherpa, 15, Bisworaj Mukhiya, Nagel Bhutiya, 35, and Yangila Sherpa, 7, from Darjeeling, India were among those who went missing in the landslide. The landslide hit their car (Me 1 Cha 1256) as they were travelling in it. Car driver Ajit Yalamo of Pashupatinagar, Ilam, has also gone missing with them.Four people who were traveling in the car with the registration number Me. 1 Cha 1191 and a helper of the truck were swept away by the landslide. The Biring River flows via the landslide site and the bodies are feared swept away by the river. One body was found at Ghailadubba-9, in Jhapa today.The rescue operation for the victims is underway with the help of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and the locals. However, transport at the site has been reopened from this afternoon. Nnnn STALEMATE WON’T END SOON SAYS CP MAINALI KATHMANDU: Vice-Chairman of the CPN-Maoist, CP Gajurel, has claimed that the ongoing stalemate in the country would not end immediately. Gajurel said there was no immediate possibility of ending ongoing stalemate though it should be ended on the basis of political consensus. Talking to media persons, Gajurel, who is in Chitwan to pay tribute to Karna Bahadur Thapa, father of General Secretary of the party, Ram Bahadur Thapa, made this remark. He said there was nothing to expect from the major political parties if we see their previous activities in the context that the major political parties have said that they will forge consensus within mid-October. Stating that Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai should tender his resignation immediately to forge national consensus, Gajurel said the discussion among political parties will not go smoothly until the Prime Minister resigns from the post. He said there is a compulsion of exit of the Prime Minister from the government and added that consensus would not be forged unless Dr. Bhattarai resigns from the post. Claiming that leaders including Prachanda and Baburam have been proved failure in history, Gajurel said responsibility for leadership of the country should not be given to them.
