OPPOSITION CONCERNED WITH PM REMARKS AGAINST PRESDIDENT Kathmandu, 15 Oct.: 15: Leaders of the opposition parties have expressed concern over the latest statement by Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai directed at the President, RSS reports. They argued that a caretaker Prime Minister, who has already lost the morality and status to continue in power, does not have the right to raise fingers at the President, who is patron of the constitution. It is the right of the President to express his view as per the spirit and norms of the constitution when the constitution is going through an out of ordinary situation and is running out of track, they said. The appeal by the President along with a timeline for forging a consensus for a new government and for fresh elections was very relevant, the leaders said. However, UCPN (Maoist) leader argued that the constitution only provided a ceremonial role to the President and that he should not make statements against the law. Those expressing their views at the programme held in the capital today were NC leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung and CPN-UML leader Raghuji Panta, and ruling UCPN (Maoist) leader Lilamani Pokharel.
