with black flags in Saptari Sunday at a bus park in Rupani.

FARMERS DEMAND SAPTARI BE DECLARED DROUGHT HIT
Kathmandu, 14 Oct.: : Farmers of Saptari district have gifted a ´dry paddy plant´ to Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, demanding that the district be announced a ´drought-hit area´, RSS reorts from Rajbiraj..
Saptari, the district in the eastern Terai has not witnessed adequate rainfall during this monsoon and rice production here is likely to go down this year.
The Prime Minister was gifted with the dry paddy plant at a welcome program organized in his honor at Kathauna Bazaar by the UCPN (Maoist) today.The Saptari folks are worried as rice cultivation has been negatively affected due to lack of rain.
Informing the Prime Minister that rice transplantation could not take place in most of the areas in the district and planted seedlings have started drying, the Saptari folks have demanded that the district be declared a ´drought-hit area´.
Receiving the ´dry plant´ from farmers, the Prime Minister assured them of addressing their demand. He said the government was serious towards the problems of Saptari farmers and would provide them relief soon after a necessary study.On different note, he said a full-fledged budget will come soon on the basis of consensus.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister was greeted with black flags by sister organizations close to opposition parties at Rajbiraj while he was on the way to inaugurate the Krishna Cooperatives Fair.
Meanwhile, he said the reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly or new date for the fresh election was possible only on the basis of consensus.
Joining a press meet organized by the Revolutionary Journalists´ Association Saptari here today, he said he was in line of promulgating the new constitution through the CA.
