Altogether 80,353 shares were traded for Rs,23.536 million in 505 transactions. nnnn 510KG HASH CONFISCTED Kathmandu, 9 Oct.: Police confiscated 510 kilograms of marijuana hidden in the Simpani forest at Manahari area on the Hetauda-Narayanghat road section on Tuesday morning, RSS reports from Hetauda. Police suspect that the contraband was being smuggled towards Thodi, Parsa district via a short-cut route through the forest. Meanwhile, the District Police Office, Makwanpur has dispatched a team towards Rasirang, kakada and Sarikhet Palase areas to destroy the illegal hemp cultivation in these areas. nnnn RAMESHWOR UPADHAYA OF DEMOCRATIC PANEL ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF UNIVERSITY TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION Kathmandu, 9 Oct. Raeshwor Upadhaya of the Democratic panel has been electec chairman of the Nepal University Teachers’ Association for a three-year term. 20-member mixed working committee ,was also elected. nnnn. MADESH MEMO HANDED OVER Kathmandu, 9 Oct.: The Madhes Study Centre, Janakpur on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the government calling for implementing the slogan; 'Dignity, Self-respect and Independent Thinking—Our Inherent Rights, RSS reports from Birgunj'. The centre handed over the memo to Minister for Information and Communications, Raj Kishor Yadav and through him to the government. Among other things, the memo calls for establishing a single Madhes autonomous province and delineating its northern border, enfranchising the children of only the Madhesis who had been enlisted as voters in the general elections held in 2015 BS, recognizing only the land-ownership certificates issued before the construction of the East-West highway and scrapping the lad-ownership certificates issued after that considering that to be an act of encroachment and immediately stopping the declaration by the CPN-Maoist to ban the screening of Hindi movies and songs in Nepal. Chief patron of the Madhes Study Centre, Vijaya Mahaseth, handed over the memorandum to Minister Yadav who is also the spokesman of the government. Receiving the memo, Minister Yadav said that the government was committed to guaranteeing constitutionally the identity, self-respect, dignity and the rights of people of all communities, races, castes and regions living in Nepal. He said building an equitable and prosperous New Nepal based on equality, independence and free of discrimination is the main responsibility of the government. nnnn
