ARMY CHIEF LEAVES FOR FIRST FOREIGN TRIP Kathmandu, 3 Nov.: Army Chief Gen.Gaurav SJB Rana, accompanied by wife Rohani, left for Australia on Saturday on his first foreign trip. He’ll participate in the 5th Annual Chiefs of Defense (CHOD) Conference. The annual conference of 27 military leaders of the Asia and the Pacific is being organized jointly by the Pacific Command of the US Army and Australian Defence Force. nnnn NC WARNING TO DISSIDENTS Kathmandu, 3 Nov.: After 78 former main opposition lawmakers opposed a party central decision to go for constituent assembly elections to end a prolonged deadlock, NC in a statement Saturday warned workers to maintain discipline. Nnnn MAOIST LEADER SAYS DEADLOCK WILL END SOON Kathmanddu, 3 Nov.: Standing Committee member and organization department chief of the UCPN (Maoist), Krishna Bahadur Mahara, has claimed that the political deadlock would end within 10 days, RSS reports from Banepa.. Inaugurating the Dhulikhel municipal conference of the party on Saturday, Standing Committee member Mahara said the issue of whether going for election after promulgating constitution would be settled very soon. He further said if the constitution was promulgated by restoring Constituent Assembly for some period, Nepali Congress or any other party could lead the election government. Otherwise, change in government leadership was impossible, he argued. Similarly, leader Mahara said the President must pass the budget the government brings because the country would face crisis if the budget is not brought on time. He accused the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and other parties of trying to restore 2047 constitution.The municipal conference would elect new leadership. Nnnn ________________________________________ SEVEN ARRESTED IN HUGE HEMP HAUL l Kathmandu,3 Nov.: Seven persons were arrested with 1050 kg marijuana overnight after a raid at Rakshirang VDC-7, Makwanpur. Police raided the place followed by a tip-off to nab the gang. Many fled during the raid. Makwanpur is emerging as the country’s leading district for illegal hemp cultivartion. Nnnn GOVT TEAM INSPECTS ‘SHATTERED CAPITAL Kathmandu, 3 Nov.:A team led by Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister Krishna Hari Baskota inspecting the road expansion in Kathmandu, on Saturday, November 3, 2012 Kathmandu, 3 Nov.: Under the direction of the Prime Minister, a team led by Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister Krishna Hari Baskota began an inspection of the road expansion in the valley on Saturday, RSS reports. The team comprising the chiefs and secretaries in the concerned ministries and departments began the inspection after the road expansion drive was found very slow in the valley. In course of the inspection, the team reached various 50 places, including Kalikasthan, Dillibazar, Gairidhara, Baluwatar, Lazimpat, Tahachal, Chhauni, Ekantakuna, Maitighar, Tinkune, and Old Baneshwor, on Saturday morning. The team will submit a report to the Prime Minister by today. The report will record the progress and problems in the road expansion and the measures to solve the problems. According to the inspection team, the road expansion was halted at Lazimpat area as the concerned people were not provided compensation on time. Secretary Baskota said that contractors in the road expansion could be awarded if they did very well but would have the agreement cancelled if they have failed to carry out road expansion as per the agreement. Till date, 70 km road has been expanded in the Valley. The government has planned to expand 180km road in the Valley under the first phase.
